Alocasia Polly, also known as the African mask plant, is a Alocasia which is distinguished by its beautiful skeletal white vein patterns on its leaves. While Polly is a hybrid houseplant created relatively recently with mixed origin stories, the genus Alocasia is native to tropical rainforest climates in India, Southeast Asia, Southern China, and the Southern Pacific islands. Alocasias grow giant, umbrella-like leaves which are said to resemble the ear of an elephant. As forest plants they prefer a shady environment.
